We are currently seeking a Market Manager to join our Sales Team at Altria Group Distribution Company in the San Jose, California area.

As the Market Manager, you will lead and develop Territory Sales Managers to sell and execute marketing and trade programs to grow Altria's companies' businesses and their customers' businesses within the assigned geographical area. You will develop short-term and long-term strategies to build business and organization capabilities to build our brands.

Job Description

* You'll lead and empower a high-performing Territory Sales Manager team (typically 10 – 12 direct reports) through a culture of engagement, teamwork and inclusion; continually elevate performance of the team and individuals. Identify, assess, grow, develop and advance talent.
* You will collaborate with local peers to develop and execute high level strategy for state business and organizational development.
* You will build and execute market dynamic plans that address unique business and organizational opportunities, engage with key internal and external stakeholders.
* You will provide recommendations on execution plans for Headquarter (HQ) initiatives and effectively work with key account teams on issues impacting the market. Cultivate strong relationships and collaborate effectively with HQ, peers and account leadership
* Develop a deep knowledge of state and local legislative issues that relate to industry and/or Altria positions; pursue and cultivate relationships with trade associations, key customers and franchise associations to influence at the state & local level

Specific Skills:

* 5+ years of experience in sales and/or marketing operations in consumer packaged goods industry with at least 2 years of managerial experience preferred.
* Ability and willingness to collaborative with peers at a high level to lead state organizational and business development.
* A drive to inspire, challenge and support a diverse team of direct reports and peers.
* Capability to create and execute organizational plans that result in growth of the team’s capabilities ahead of the evolution of their roles.
* Ability to drive progress of Inclusion & Diversity efforts. Demonstrate ability to improved engagement, collaboration and teamwork over time. Forecast team movement and make progress towards increasing our Diversity Representation to better reflect the population of the Northern CA market.
* Ability to collaboratively develop objectives / execution plans and hold direct reports and peers accountable to making significant progress against those objectives.
* Has established HQ network or the ability to build and leverage a strong HQ network.
* Ability to pursue and develop mutually beneficial relationships with external stakeholders (Trade association leadership, Chain Account personnel, Franchise board associations leadership, etc.).
* Ability to identify business opportunities and build effective plans to work against those opportunities. Must have ability to be flexible and dynamic with business planning.
* Ability to learn local market and Northern CA geo dynamics to: effectively lead our business and organizational development in a market that has high levels of tobacco regulations and legislative activity, help shape go to market strategies for future categories or products, identify unique local market opportunities for our businesses.
* Fundamental use of operating systems and proficiency around MS Office Suites (Excel, PPT, Word, etc.)
* Experience in leveraging data to analyze business and organizational process, insights and recommendations
* Monthly business travel will be required for meetings
