Evaluate and discern acceptability of materials, processes and products based upon toxicological assessment for a Fortune 200 Company with some of the most iconic brands! Do you have a PhD or MSc in Toxicology along with experience in applying predictive toxicology methods? If so, we want to speak with you!

We are selectively recruiting a Risk Assessment Toxicologist to join our Regulatory Sciences Preclinical department in Richmond, VA. This role will be responsible for the evaluation and discernment of the acceptability of materials, processes and products based upon toxicological assessment of internal and external scientific data for all product categories for Altria.

How you will make an impact:

• As a critical member of the toxicology team you will provide product stewardship support across products, materials, ingredients, technologies and manufacturing processes.
• Utilize relevant chemical and toxicological information to develop risk assessments for product/material evaluations to support regulatory submissions.
• Present study results, program reviews, and relevant toxicological literature to other toxicologists within the Preclinical group as well as other health scientists
• Monitor the scientific literature as well as maintain and improve relationships with key opinion leaders in academia in the areas of tobacco use behavior
• Process and evaluate material and product review requests for a designated product category or operating company
• Lead and participate on cross-functional teams, providing scientific expertise while representing Preclinical and Regulatory Sciences.
• Support regulatory filings and engagement of the FDA in support of Altria’s highly regulated business

We want you to have:

• MSc in Toxicology or related field w/ 3+ years’ experience in industrial and/or regulatory toxicology, U.S. and international regulatory environments or PhD in Toxicology which is preferred.
• Experience with applying predictive toxicology methods (e.g., read-across) and/or QSAR approaches to address toxicological issues (preferred)
• Strong experience in risk assessment/analysis in regulatory environment
• Ability to analyze and synthesize data and develop meaningful insights and conclusions
• Expertise in interpreting in-vitro/in-vivo studies to assess product safety
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to use those skills in cross-functional teams
