Support regulatory product submissions and harm reduction platforms for a Fortune 200 Company with iconic brands, by leading research to understand consumer perceptions, intentions and behaviors! Have a B.A. degree in Psychology, Sociology, Marketing Research, Quantitative Methods, Decision Science, or related fields, along with five plus years in consumer research? If so, we want to speak with you! We are currently looking for a Senior Behavioral Researcher in our Population Science department in Richmond, VA.

Situated within Regulatory Affairs, the Population Science department’s role is to help develop and synthesize consumer perception and behavior research in support of tobacco product submissions to the US Food and Drug Administration. At its core, the Population Science department studies and disseminates information about how tobacco consumers use and perceive tobacco products.

The ideal candidate will have working knowledge on key topics such as behavioral theory and models, study design, perception and behavioral metrics, and statistical analyses. The candidate should be proficient in interpretation and communication of data with the end goal of providing robust scientific data for FDA authorization of products.

In this role, you will:

• Support the design of and lead the execution of behavioral research studies, including developing protocols, surveys, statistical analysis plans, and reports
• Provide guidance on methodologies and statistical analyses to assess consumer perceptions, intentions and behaviors
• Support identification of metrics for perception and behavior assessments
• Interpret findings from research, provide direction on integrating findings into regulatory applications, determine impactful insights for the business, and present findings to key partners
• Draft scientific narrative content for applications, submissions and advocacy
• Manage multiple priorities and projects in a rapidly changing environment
• Engage in scientific conferences and through peer-reviewed publications

We want you to have:

• B.A. degree in Sociology, Psychology, Marketing Research, Decision Science, Quantitative Methods, or related fields. Advanced degree preferred
• 5+ years of meaningful educational and/or work experience (Consumer research, background in consumer package goods, FDA regulatory environment and/or public health a plus)
• Strong capabilities in methodological designs and survey development
• Statistical and analytical proficiency (e.g., SAS, SPSS, Stata, R)
• Ability to synthesize complex scientific information in a concise manner
• Ability to lead vendors in quality execution of research
• Ability to multi-task and balance priorities in a deadline-oriented environment and work in a collaborative manner
• Strong oral communications skills and the ability to present information effectively to others
• Strong understanding of consumer research, methodology strengths and limitations, and how to best address business questions
