We're looking for a Senior Manager of State Tax Law to join our Corporate Tax department in Richmond, VA.
If you’re up for the challenge, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the highest degree of accuracy, timeliness and accountability while leading state tax audits and tax planning. You’ll have the opportunity to provide senior management with advice and counsel on all areas of state tax matters, including audits, transactional, transfer pricing and legislative.

This is what you'll do to help us succeed:

* Use your expertise to lead state tax audit activities, including analyzing facts and legal issues, developing positions, drafting written communications with auditors, representing the company in meetings with auditors, and maintaining audit files.
* Use your analytical skills to assess risk and make recommendations on complex state tax issues concerning proposed acquisitions, dispositions, reorganizations and other business transactions.
* Use your communication skills to share analysis results via written memoranda and oral presentations.
* Diversify your experience by supporting the State, Local/Direct, Excise and Federal/International tax groups with research and analysis
* Help to analyze, communicate and interpret the business impact of federal and state tax law changes, new regulations, and court decisions.

Specific Skills

Does this describe you?

* A Juris Doctorate degree, with an LLM and/or financial accounting experience preferred.
* A minimum of two years of experience with a consistent track record of contribution and accomplishment in the field of taxation. State tax experience preferred but not required.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Demonstrated knowledge of current tax law and regulations.
* Agility to adapt quickly to shifting priorities.
* Comfortable working independently as well as in teams.
* Well-developed analytical skills.
* Comfortable meeting deadlines, conducting research and reporting information.
* Willing to accommodate occasional travel and overtime during peak periods.
* Able to efficiently handle multiple assignments/projects simultaneously, often under strict time deadlines.
